In order to stimulate related activities to knowledge, conservation, and wise use of mires and peatlands in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, South America, and the extra-tropical Southern Hemisphere, IMCG is planning a Field Symposium in Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) from 21 November to 1 December, 2005.

The Symposium will join research scientist, government agency professionals and mire conservationists to discuss topical issues with respect to mire conservation and wise use in this part of the world.

The Argentinean Province of Tierra del Fuego includes a significant extension and variety of pristine mires.

The International Mire Conservation Group – www.imcg.net - was established in 1984, in Klagenfürt, Austria, to promote the conservation of mires and their complete range of natural diversity throughout the world. This network encompasses a wide spectrum of expertise and interests, from research scientists to consultants, government agency specialists to peatland site managers. IMCG has over 400 contacts in almost 60 countries

We inform that the list of confirmed participants to the IMCG Symposium field trip has been closed with the persons that have confirmed their registration by fees payment at July, 17th. Regrettably, available places were not enough for all pre-registered people, as we informed by the Second circular sent in March, 2004.

Nevertheless, there are not restrictions to participate at the scientific sessions to be developed from November 29th to December 1st
