Event Structure and Chronogram

The Field Symposium will consist of seven days of excursions and three days of Scientific sessions and workshop in Ushuaia (with English as conversation language). Ecologists, botanists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, palynologists, will discuss during the fields activities about genesis, evolution, and behavior of mires and peatlands, their interactions with the environment and the importance of mires on the water basin regulation. It will be visited some peatlands affected to mining extraction.

22/11 (Field Day 1 - Ushuaia)	Tierra del Fuego National Park Visit the Pipo Valley Sphagnum mire. Short stop in Ensenada Bay. Visit the Roca Lake Sphagnum mire. Visit the Lguna Negra Sphagnum mires. Short hike to a Beavers Dam. Stop at Lapataia Bay (end of Route Nº 3) and short walk by the surroundings. Field Presentation about the National Park by Lic. Laura Malmierca Special Guests: Lic. 23/11 (Field Day 2 - Ushuaia)	Andorra Valley Visit the Carex Andorra mires. Visit the Mustapik peat mining settlement. Walk through several pristine mires and Nothofagus forest until the end of the Andorra valley. Overview of mires from the hillside. Special Guests: Dra. Andrea Coronato Conference about Yamanas culture by Lic. Ernesto Piana Dinner Accommodation at Aldea Nevada & Hanus cabins
24/11 (Field Day 3 - Lago Escondido )	Ushuaia – Martial Glacier -Valleys region Visit the urban mires in Ushuaia city. Short climb Martial Glacier, visiting the moraine terraces. Visit the Oyarzun peat mining settlement and walk over the Carbajal Valley Sphagnum mires. Overview of Tierra Mayor Valley mires from the road. Short hike to the Haruwen hostal across the nearby mires. Travel to Palacios small lake and Fagnano´s shore. Short stop to enjoy the place. Travel to Escondido Lake. Special Guest: Dra. Beatriz Itten Dinner General meeting Accommodation at Petrel Hostel.
25/11 (Field Day 4 - Ea Harberton)	Rancho Hambre – Ruta J- Harberton Visit mire at Paso Garibaldi. Visit the Sphagnum mires close to Rancho Hambre settlement. Travel towards Harberton area via Route J. Visit the Harberton Farm. Visit the Astelia and Donatia Moat mires. Special Guest: Natalie Goodal Presentation about Harberton historical farm by Dra. Natalie Goodal. Camp dinner Accommodation: camping in Cambaceres.
26/11 (Field Day 5 - Moat)	Moat All day walk through a mosaic of different mires in Moat area. Travel back to Escondido lake. Dinner Accommodation at Petrel Hostel. Accommodation: camping in Cambaceres.
27/11 (Field Day 6 - Tohuin and Rio Grande)	Ecotone Travel to Ecotone area visiting mires in the headboard of Fagnano Lake. Stop in Tolhuin town. Presentation about the Protected areas by Dra. Nora Loekemeyer Travel by Route H to Carex mires. Visit Esperanza mires. Short stop in Yehuin Lake to enjoy the place. Visit the Río Fuego mires. Travel to Río Grande city. Special Guests : Dra. Nora Loekemeyer, Ing. Enrique Livraghi, Dra. Marta Collantes Dinner Acommodation at Isla del Mar Hotel – Río Grande city.
28/11 (Field Day 7 - Tohuin)	Steppe –Ecotone Visit the fen located in María Behetty farm and vegas in Los Flamencos farm. Travel towards the ecotone zone. Visit and short walk the nearby Tolhuin Sphagnum mires. Travel back to Ushuaia city Special Guest : Dra. Marta Collantes Argentinean typical dinner Acommodation at Aldea Nevada & Hanus Cabin.
